Allen Recycles Day is an annual event held on Saturday, November 2 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. On this day, residents can bring items for reuse and recycling to the Allen City Hall parking lot. Examples of items being collected at this year’s event are books, eyeglasses, shoes, clothing, electronics, sports equipment, bicycles, pet supplies, and cardboard. A personal document shredder will be present at the event. To see all vendors coming to the event, a comprehensive list can be found on the flyer placed in your City of Allen October Utility Bill, or at www.keepallenbeautiful.com on the main page.
Keep Allen Beautiful sponsors a Recycled Art Contest during the month of October culminating on November 2nd, Allen Recycles Day, with an award ceremony in City Council chambers at 11:00 a.m. Please visit www.keepallenbeautiful.com for information regarding the contest. Contact kmielke@cityofallen.org for more information.
Middle School and High School students are encouraged to receive volunteer hours by helping with the operations of the activity, doing landscape projects in the yards of Allen residents and conducting cleanups around town. Contact Casey Bennett at cbennett@cityofallen.org for more details about volunteering.
