City of Allen and Town of Fairview partner on manhole and sewer repair project

AUG. 8, 2023 - The City of Allen and the Town of Fairview have entered an interlocal funding agreement to repair deteriorating manhole structures along US 75 near the Village at Allen.

The manhole structures that need repair are part of a sewer line that runs along US 75 from Fairview through the Village at Allen retail center.

Since the pipeline originates in Fairview and is shared by both communities, an existing agreement between the City of Allen and Town of Fairview requires the two communities share financial responsibility for maintenance of the pipeline. The total cost of the project is nearly $1.79 million and the Town of Fairview will reimburse the City of Allen for 59% of that cost (approximately $1.04 million).

These repairs are needed to fix damage caused to the manholes by gas build-up in the sewer lines. While this gas not widespread in Allen’s or North Texas Municipal Water Districts sewer lines, it will eat through the concrete structure of the sewer line over time.
