AUG. 9, 2022 - City Council approved a $1,450,381 construction agreement for three new traffic signals at the following intersections:

  • Bethany Drive at Racetrac Driveway (west of Greenville Avenue)
  • Stacy Road and Curtis Lane
  • Angel Parkway and Malone Road

To save money and time, the City of Allen is buying the materials through a cooperative purchasing agreement with the Houston-Galveston Area Council in the amount of $311,546. Construction will begin later this year when all construction materials are available. All three intersections will be constructed at the same time.

Each year the City studies various locations for traffic signal needs. These locations are placed on an evaluation list based on crash history, traffic volume, roadway use and other factors. Angel/Malone and Stacy/Curtis locations have been studied each year for qualifying factors over several years, but only recently met the requirements and conditions that legitimize installation.

A fourth signal, located at Ridgemont and Greenville, will be constructed in 2023, made possible through a Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) Safety Grant awarded to the City earlier this year.
