Ridgeview Trail users can enjoy three new segments completed in January 2022.
Loop trail connection at Cinemark Allen
The connection at Ridgeview Drive near Cinemark Allen has a new loop trail (approximately 0.32 miles) connected to the existing Cottonwood Trail. The loop runs beneath Ridgeview Drive and leads near the existing pond. A new stone veneer culvert crossing allows patrons to stop and enjoy the pond as they continue their walk onto Ridgeview Trail.
Widened trail along Creekway Drive
The 0.37-mile segment of Watters Trail leading to Ridgeview Drive received a facelift to meet City and ADA standards. The segment is widened from 8 feet to 12 feet, now accommodating both pedestrians and cyclists. In addition to the new trail, two new pedestrian truss bridges replace the previous bridges due to shifting, instability and weathering.
New boardwalk next to Allen ISD STEAM Center
A new boardwalk and 0.22 miles of trail are open for use near the Allen ISD STEAM Center. The boardwalk begins at Alamosa Drive where it sets up a scenic view of Rowlett Creek. The trail later picks up below Ridgeview Drive leading trail-goers through the trees. Here, users can experience a birds-eye view of the forest floor before connecting to Ridgeview Trail.
An additional trail segment was added to connect to Exchange Trail to the north and allow for the future connection to the Steven G. Terrell Recreation Center to the south.
