It's time to clean up and clean out at the annual Great American Cleanup on Saturday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. The event includes two locations.
Donation and recycling opportunities will be located at Bossy Boots Drive at North Watters Road. The following vendors will be accepting reuse donations: Allen Animal Shelter, Allen Community Outreach, Allen High Noon Lions Club, Goodwill Industries, The Shoe Bank, and East Texas Bicycle Association. Community Waste Disposal will be accepting yard waste, untreated lumber, cardboard and household appliances without Freon.
Electronics, paper shredding and medication disposal will be available at Allen City Hall, 305 Century Parkway. Cyclone Aluminum and Steel will accept computers and small appliances. Secure On-Site Shredding will shred personal documents on a first-come basis until trucks are full. The medication disposal runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at both Allen City Hall and Lowery Freshman Center, 601 E. Main St.This is a project of the Allen Police Department and Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital.
The event is open to Allen residents only. A current water utility bill and driver's license must be presented. No commerical quantities will be accepted.
