Your newly elected officials are hard at work! Mayor Ken Fulk and Councilmembers Daren Meis, Dave Cornette and Dave Shafer attended the Newly Elected City Officials’ Orientation from July 29-30 in San Antonio.

The event is sponsored by the Texas Municipal League and the Texas Association of Mayors, Councilmembers and Commissioners. Elected officials from all over the state participate in two days of networking and training. City of Allen is a member of Texas Municipal League, a voluntary association of 1,167 Texas cities.

The orientation provides an opportunity for newly elected City officials to voluntarily enhance their knowledge of City government and sharpen their leadership skills. In addition, the orientation offers an opportunity to visit with elected officials from across Texas to learn how other cities are coping with similar challenges. Sessions include topics such as leadership, open government, parliamentary procedure, financial responsibilities, ethics, economic development, revenue sources, and media relations.
