MAY 21, 2021 - The City of Allen celebrated Public Works Week by highlighting three crews who protect Allen’s waterways, pipes and drinking water. Get to know these valued employees in a new series, Allen at Work.

Vactor Truck | Jason Helmick and Calvin Collins
Jason and Calvin operate one of Allen's vactor trucks - which, as Calvin perfectly describes, is like a big vacuum cleaner for Allen's sewer line system.

FOG | Melvin Spears
Melvin and his team are tasked with the important job of ensuring proper disposal of fats, oils and grease (otherwise known as FOG). Disposing of FOG in the wrong way can cause some major issues in a building's pipes and can be harmful to the environment.

Water Quality | Gustavo Gama
Meet Gustavo! Gustavo works hard to ensure Allen residents have safe and high quality water every time they turn on a faucet.
