Allen welcomed its newest Councilmember, Daren Meis, during a swearing-in ceremony at the May 11 Council meeting. Mayor Fulk presented Councilmember Meis with his Certificate of Election and official canvass results.
Meis and his wife, Susan, have lived in Allen since 2015. He is a former board member with the Collin County Conservative Republicans and volunteers flying time with Challenge Air for Kids.
During the meeting, Allen bid farewell to outgoing Councilmember Kurt Kizer, formerly Place No. 1.
City Manager Eric Ellwanger also honored Councilmember Kizer during a reception honoring Kizer’s 20 years of service on City boards and City Council.
“Thank you for bringing your time, your experience and your heart to this role,” said Eric. “While your title may change after tonight, I think we all know that your care for this community isn’t going anywhere.
Runoff Election on June 5
