The City of Allen has continued its winning streak, earning a prestigious national finance award for the 21st year in a row. The Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) awarded the city with the Certificate of Achievement in Excellence in Financial Reporting Award for the fiscal year ended September 30, 2019.
The GFOA administers the most prestigious national award program for governmental accounting and financial reporting. The Comprehensive Annual Financial Report has been judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program, which includes demonstrating a constructive "spirit of full disclosure" to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the report.
The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management.
As part of its commitment to financial transparency and accountability, the City of Allen also prepares a Popular Annual Financial Report to extract and convey information from the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report in a condense and easily understood format. It provides an overview of the City’s audited financial position, local taxing information and economic climate.
