[ARCHIVED] Warming stations/shelters offered in Allen, Collin County

Several warming stations and overnight shelters are open in Allen and Collin County to support those dealing with power or heating outages, including one operated by the City of Allen at Allen Senior Recreation Center.

Allen Senior Recreation Center 
Allen Senior Recreation Center (451 St. Mary Drive, Allen) opened Wednesday morning and will run through Friday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. for Allen residents. If you plan to visit, please know:

  • This warming station has limited capacity. Please call 972.896.8297 to check on current occupancy.
  • Due to COVID-19 precautions, visitors must answer COVID-19 screening questions upon arrival.
  • Face coverings are required at all times. Social distancing is required; same family/household groups will be permitted to sit together.
  • No food, water or blankets will be provided. No cots are permitted.
  • Only services animals are allowed.

Additional warming centers 
Below is a list of additional shelters and warming centers. This information is constantly changing and new warming centers and shelters may become available.

  • Allen Heights Baptist Church (1309 E. Main St., Allen, TX 75002): Operating as a warming center from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 17. Pets are welcome but need to be in kennels. Showers available, if needed.
  • First Baptist Allen (Building E, Northwest Corner of Cedar and McDermott): - Operating as warming center from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. starting Wednesday, Feb. 17; Bring your own blanket, drink, and snacks. We will follow masking and social distancing safety guidelines. No pets.
  • Chase Oaks Church (611 E. Stacy Rd., Fairview, TX 75069): Offering warming and charging stations. Will follow masking and social distancing safety guidelines in effect at each campus. Overnight accommodations available as space allows. Complete this form to specify needs so staff and volunteers can make arrangements.
  • Grace Church Plano (3301 Preston Rd., Plano, TX 75093): Open 24 hours. Bring blankets, water, and snacks. No pets.
  • City of Richardson: Several daytime and overnight warming stations available. View all. 
  • Sent Church (3701 W Spring Creek Pkwy., Plano, TC 75023): Open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • The Salvation Army (3528 14th St., Plano, TX 75074): Call (214) 637-8254 for more information.
  • Islamic Center of Frisco (11137 Frisco St., Frisco, TX 75033): No shoes will be allowed on the carpet when you enter.
  • Roy & Helen Hall Library (101 E Hunt St., McKinney, TX 75069): Open 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM 
  • Crosspoint Church (101 South Stonebridge Dr., McKinney TX 75071): Call (972) 562-2200 for more information.
  • Murphy Community Center (MCC) (205 North Murphy Rd., Murphy, TX 75094): Water will be provided. Cots will not be provided.
  • New Hope Christian Church (1100 Brown St., Wylie, TX 75098)
  • Burnett Jr. High (516 Hilltop Ln., Wylie, TX 75098): Open 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM
  • City Church Melissa (2300 Vineyard Hill Ln, McKinney, TX 75071): Open 11:00 AM - 6:00 PM 
  • Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center (650 S Griffin St., Dallas, TX 75202): Open 24-hours. Bring water and snacks. Cots will not be provided.
