City of Allen offices and facilities are closed for the Christmas holiday Thursday, Dec. 24 and Friday, Dec. 25.

Thursday trash and recycling collection will occur as normal; Friday collection will slide to Saturday. Find your collection day.

Allen Public Library closures

• Dec. 24-25: CLOSED; no library materials due during this time
• Dec. 26: Curbside service resumes 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
• Facility reopens Monday, Dec. 28

Allen Parks and Recreation closures

• Several Parks and Recreation facilities are closed or have modified hours Dec. 24-25. Go to Allen Parks and Recreation closure information.

Holiday trash collection

Community Waste Disposal (CWD) will collect up to five extra bags of trash on your first collection day after Christmas. Place the bags at your collection point at least two feet from trash and recycling carts.

Christmas tree disposal

When you’re ready to dispose of your natural Christmas tree, CWD offers curbside collection options. Allen residents also can take advantage of DIY Disposal at the Custer Road Transfer Station and Wood Grinding Facility.

Before disposing your tree, remember to remove all tinsel and ornaments. When visiting the Custer Road Transfer Station, you must bring your most recent City of Allen water bill and a driver’s license with matching address.

• Flocked / artificial trees: Because these trees cannot be composted, they will not be collected as yard waste. You may dispose of flocked or artificial Christmas tree by scheduling a pickup on your assigned bulk trash collection day or bringing it to the Custer Road Transfer Station.
