[ARCHIVED] Allen selects architect for future Fire Station #6

Construction plans will be developed in 2021 for Allen’s sixth and final fire station.

Allen Fire Station #6 will find its future home on the southwest corner of Watters Road and Ridgeview Drive. This station will help meet the needs of Allen’s growing population as new developments are built along SH-121.

In a 2016 bond election, Allen voters approved a total of $9.945 million to design, equip, and build the station. VAI Architects was chosen to complete initial planning and schematic design, including floodplain analysis, cost estimating, and concept renderings. On October 27, Allen City Council approved a $611,600 service agreement for continuation of the design effort to prepare construction drawings and make the project “shovel-ready.”

VAI estimates the construction cost at $11,759,000. Equipment and a new engine will cost an additional $2 million. A construction date has yet to be determined.
