Adopt a pet from Allen Animal Shelter on Saturday, August 17 and all adoption fees will be waived!
The City of Allen is among dozens of North Texas shelters and rescue organizations participating in Clear the Shelters. The pet adoption initiative helps address overcrowding at animal shelters, which typically reach peak capacity during summer months.
On one day only, shelters across the country will waive adoption fees in an effort to find a home for every available animal. Allen Animal Shelter typically charges $95. Pets adopted from Allen Animal Shelter are spayed or neutered, chipped and vaccinated prior to adoption.
Clear the Shelters began in North Texas in 2014 and expanded nationwide in 2015. In 2018, 62 North Texas shelters participated and 7,401 animals were adopted in the North Texas area. A total of 103,037 pets were adopted nationwide last year.
Allen Animal Shelter will offer free adoptions from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, August 17 at Allen Animal Shelter (770 S. Allen Heights Drive). At other North Texas shelters, fees and shelter times may vary.
