Allen residents can weigh in on the City’s proposed tax rate and budget during two upcoming public hearings. The proposed tax rate is not to exceed $0.498 per $100 of taxable value, which is no change from the current tax rate of $0.498. Despite the unchanged rate, a combination of new taxable properties and increased appraisal values will increase the City’s total tax intake by $2,470,372 or 3.63%. Of that amount, $2,442,898 can be attributed to new taxable properties, while the remainder is from increased appraisal values of existing property.
Citizens can comment on the proposed budget or property tax rate during public hearings conducted as part of the City Council meetings on Tuesday, Aug. 13 and Tuesday, Aug. 27. Meetings begin at 7 p.m. in the Council Chambers at Allen City Hall (305 Century Parkway). As part of the public hearings, highlights of the proposed FY2019-20 budget will be presented.
