Allen City Council has approved $2.6 million in funding for more than a dozen repairs and improvements to City facilities. The anticipated project list includes the following upgrades and estimated costs:
- City Council Chambers Remodel and Security Enhancement- $577,950
- City Hall Waterproofing - $556,000
- City Hall Rotunda Roof Repair - $110,000
- Exterior Signage at City Hall and Civic Plaza - $40,000
- Storm Sirens - $415,000
- Fire Station #5 Parking Lot Repair Engineering Assessment and Design Work - $125,000
- Event Center South Garage Lighting Replacement, Powerwashing and Replacement - $273,246
- Fire Station #3 and #4 Window Replacement - $90,000
- Municipal Service Center Lighting Upgrades and AC Upgrade - $23,800
- Outdoor Metal Painting at Various Facilities - $130,000
- Event Center Facade, Concrete Repair and Enhancement Work - $42,000
- Facility Wi-Fi Replacement - $75,000
- Natatorium Evaluation of Dectron Humidity Control Replacement - $15,000
- Traffic Management Center - $75,000
The projects will be funded by the sale of tax notes. This allows the City to complete numerous repairs in a short time frame, avoiding inflation of both labor and material costs. The short-term debt will be repaid within three years at an interest rate of 3% or lower.
