Mayor Stephen Terrell was recognized for outstanding leadership and regional partnership by the North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG).
Mayor Terrell received the William H. Pitstick Award during a special ceremony at NCTCOG’s annual general assembly meeting on Friday, June 19. The annual honor is given to a North Texas leader who shows commitment to policies and programs which address regional concerns and promotes cooperation between citizens and elected officials to solve regional problems. The award was presented by Waxahachie mayor and NCTCOG president Kevin Strength.
The award is named in honor of Bill Pitstick, who retired from NCTCOG in 1992 after serving 26 years as its first executive director. Previous recipients have included other mayors and councilmembers, city managers, county commissioners and county judges.
At the same event, Allen Mayor Pro Tem Gary Caplinger was named to the NCTCOG Executive Board, the policy-making body for all activities undertaken by the Council of Governments. NCTCOG exists to assist local governments in planning for common needs, cooperating for mutual benefit and coordinating for sound regional development.
