One of Allen’s most ambitious painting projects will kick off later this year.
The Bethany Water Tower, located off Bethany Drive and Malone Road, will get a new paint job for the first time in 15 years. A contractor will apply a new coat of epoxy paint both inside and outside the tower, refreshing the City of Allen logo in the process. Work on the Bethany Water Tower will happen during winter months when water consumption is at its lowest.
In the meantime, repairs and repainting will take place at a ground-level storage tank at the Stacy Road Pump Station. Residents will not notice any interruption in service or change in water pressure during these projects.
The coating systems on steel structures, such as water towers, last approximately 12-15 years. New coating and minor tank repairs were recommended following a recent inspection. Allen City Council approved the $1.1 million maintenance project during the April 23 meeting.
