The North Texas Municipal Water District (NTMWD) is currently installing a new sanitary sewer line in Allen. The sewer line construction project begins at US-75 and will reach Suncreek Park this week, resulting in temporary field and trail closures and maintenance work in the surrounding area.
During the construction, a fence and signs will be placed around the southern end of Suncreek Park, temporarily closing the park’s field and a portion of the Rowlett Creek Trail. To maintain safety, the public is asked to please observe the signage and not cross the barricades into the active construction site. The areas are expected to reopen by Winter 2019.
The North Texas Municipal Water District has worked closely with the City of Allen and Allen Parks and Recreation Department to minimize the impact to Suncreek Park, Rowlett Creek Trail and areas surrounding the sewer line construction. During this process, trees along Rowlett Creek that are within the existing North Texas Municipal Water District easement will need to be removed. The North Texas Municipal Water District has committed to donating new trees to the City of Allen to support the city’s dedication and advancement of urban forestry.
