Hundreds of new signs and markers will be added to Allen trails, thanks to a partnership between the Allen Community Development Corporation (CDC) and Allen Parks Foundation.
Fifty-two steel marker signs, 312 informational sign panels and 500 quarter-mile pavement marker buttons will be installed in 2018. The additional signs and markers will enhance numerous trails, including the Bel Air Loop, Urban Center Loop, Celebration Loop, Bethany Loop, Watters Branch Loop, Exchange Trail, Shallowater Trail, Ridgeview Trail, Allen Station Trail and Stacy Trail.
Allen Parks Foundation first proposed the project to Allen CDC last year. Allen CDC distributes funds generated by Allen's half-cent sales tax to projects which enhance the community. Allen Parks Foundation will supplement Allen CDC's $100,000 budget with $11,108 of its own funding.
Allen City Council approved the funding agreement at the April 10 meeting.
