Does your non-profit organization attract tourists to Allen? If so, you could be eligible to apply for the 2018 Allen Hotel Occupancy Tax Grant. Applications will be accepted April 2-27.
The Texas Tax Code authorizes the City of Allen to impose a local hotel occupancy tax. This tax may be used to promote and enhance tourism and the convention and hotel industry by funding promotional programs that attract tourists and convention delegates or registrants. It also may be used for qualifying programs which enhance the arts, historical restoration or preservation projects.
Non-profit organizations located within Allen may apply for grants from the local Hotel Occupancy Tax Revenue. Applications are available at Allen City Hall (305 Century Parkway) beginning Monday, April 3 during normal business hours (Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.). Forms are located in the front foyer information rack and in the Finance Department, located on the second floor. Grant funding is only available to government and non-profit entities.
An informational workshop for prospective grant applicants will be held on Wednesday, April 11 at 10 a.m. in the Council Conference Room at Allen City Hall.
Applications must be completed and returned to the City of Allen Finance Department no later than 5 p.m. on Friday, April 27 to qualify for grant consideration.
