[ARCHIVED] State Confirms Skunk Test Positive for Rabies in Northeast Allen

City of Allen Animal Control received confirmation from the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) that a skunk found on January 20, in the area of Meadowgate Drive and East Exchange Parkway (northeast Allen), tested positive for rabies. 

The skunk was picked up by Allen Animal Control and sent to the state for testing. Allen Animal Control received the confirmation on Wednesday, January 24 that the skunk was positive for rabies. 

Citizens are asked to contact Allen Animal Control if they see animals acting strangely and should not try to approach the animals. Abnormal behavior for skunks include being out during daylight hours, acting strange or aggressive, or walking as if sick or intoxicated. Do not approach the animal, but call Allen Animal Control immediately, 2143.509.4378.
