In November, new flashing yellow arrow (FYA) signal lights will be installed at the intersections of Bethany and Malone, and Bethany and Cheyenne. The signal conversion to a flashing yellow arrow will replace the circular green indication light for left turns.
FYA signal conversions are being introduced nationwide as a result of a study conducted for the Federal Highway Administration. The study demonstrated that the new signals help to prevent crashes, move more traffic through an intersection, and provide additional traffic management flexibility.
In Allen, FYA signals will not be installed at every intersection. Signals will be changed as roadway projects occur and as funding allows. Overall FYA signal conversion will take years to complete.
