Allen City Council has approved a plan to build one of the first Lidl locations in North Texas.
The German grocer, often compared to Aldi, will build a 35,000 square-foot store on the northwest corner of Alma Drive and Exchange Parkway. Development regulations, building elevations and a concept plan were approved at the September 12 council meeting.
Shoppers will be able to access the grocery store from either Exchange or Alma. New turn lanes will help alleviate congestion. Loading docks will be concealed with enhanced landscaping.
Lidl (rhymes with “needle”) opened its first U.S. location earlier this year. In addition to grocery items, stores offer a rotating assortment of kitchen gadgets, home décor, gardening supplies and pet products.
