Residents will be able to restock their refrigerators and refuel their cars at a new Tom Thumb.
The grocery chain will build its second Allen store at the northwest corner of Main Street and Angel Parkway. The 11-acre site is zoned for a shopping center; however, Tom Thumb wanted to add a fueling station as well.
Allen City Council unanimously approved a specific-use permit for the site during the Feb. 28 meeting. This change allows the addition of a six-pump gas station and small convenience store.
The permit requires that the grocery store and fueling station remain under the same ownership. If owners later wish to separate them, the change must be approved by city council.
