Training for the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) begins Sept. 13. The training is an 8 week course offered Thursday nights through Nov. 1 followed by a disaster simulation exercise on Saturday, Nov. 3.
The CERT training program educates citizens about disaster preparedness and trains them in basic disaster response skills. CERT members can be deployed to respond and assist in their neighborhood, community or workplace following the event of a disaster. The CERT training/responder program is administered by the Department of Homeland Security and, in Allen, through the Fire Department.
