The City of Allen was named among MONEY magazine’s “Best Places to Live 2012”. The city was rated at number 13 and one of only two Texas cities to break the top 25. Cities are ranked based on several factors including job growth, home affordability, safety, school quality, arts and leisure, and several ease-of-living criteria. Other factors include the fiscal strength of the local governments as well as in-person visits and interviews with residents.
Allen continues to move up in the annual rankings – from No. 16 in 2010 and No. 20 in 2008.
Money magazine attributes the top ranking to popular attractions such as Allen Event Center, the over 5 million square feet of retail shopping and the new Allen High School stadium.
