[ARCHIVED] 3 Things to Know about Door-to-Door Solicitors

solicitor.jpg

The next time a solicitor knocks on your door, here are some things to keep in mind.

1) Look outside before answering.

If you don’t know the person, it’s okay to speak to them through the locked door or ignore them altogether. Allen Police do not encourage people to answer their door at night if they are not expecting someone.

2) Make sure they’re wearing their solicitor I.D. badge.

Solicitors are required to register with the Allen Police Department before going door-to-door in Allen. The $90 fee includes a background check and I.D. badge, which they are instructed to wear on their chest or upper body.

3) If you don’t want to talk to them, don’t open the door.
If a solicitor or other visitor creates a problem, call Allen police at 214-509-4321 to ask for an officer’s assistance.
