The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) plans to improve traffic flow on Angel Parkway and the greater region by adding lanes between East Main Street in Allen and Parker Road in Parker.
The reconstruction will make Angel Parkway a six-lane divided roadway, as outlined in current City of Allen and Collin County Thoroughfare Plans. Traffic projections anticipate traffic on this roadway to reach over 30,000 vehicles per day as the region continues to grow and develop. Even with current traffic volumes and development trends, the existing two-lane asphalt roadway is already functionally obsolete.
TxDOT will secure funding for the project and manage construction. Work is slated to begin in late 2018, with an estimated completion date of late 2020. Allen City Council adopted a resolution of support during the May 24 council meeting.
