Allen will celebrate Arbor Day at the end of October. The date was chosen to coincide with the best planting conditions for the north Texas climate.
Allen is committed to planting urban trees, which produce clean air and create a more beautiful community. The city also has provisions in place to preserve existing trees and protect the urban canopy, earning a “Tree City USA” designation for fourteen years.
The city’s annual Arbor Day Celebration will be held from 9 a.m. to noon on Oct. 31 at Mary Evans Elementary (1225 Walnut Springs Drive). Residents can enjoy crafts, games, group tree plantings, a costume contest and sapling giveaways.
