Allen's comprehensive plan, "Allen 2030," was chosen by the American Planning Association (APA) Texas Chapter as a recipient of the 2015 Comprehensive Planning Award. The plan earned an Honorable Mention.
City planning staff will accept the award on Friday, Oct. 9 at the APA Texas Chapter State Planning Conference in Galveston.
The Allen 2030 Comprehensive Plan serves as a policy guide and vision for the future of the community. The plan establishes goals and strategies in areas such as land uses, transportation, housing, economic development, parks, community facilities and infrastructure. It is a direct result of input from residents and business owners participating in a conversation about Allen’s future.
The APA Texas Planning Awards Program recognizes individuals, organizations and communities for outstanding contributions to planning in Texas. Winners are chosen based on innovation, transferability, quality, implementation, and comprehensiveness.
