Construction will begin next month on the basement of Allen City Hall. The finished layout will provide more space for staff training and community meetings.
Currently, the basement is a shell of concrete floors and support beams used primarily for storage. The remodeling plans call for a meeting and training space which can be divided into two smaller rooms. Crews will also add a break area and revise existing storage to make better use of space.
Once completed, the meetings rooms may also be available for public gatherings, similar to the Community Room inside the Parks & Recreation/Municipal Court building.
Construction is expected to wrap up in December. The space should be ready for use by February 2016.
