Members of the Parks and Recreation Board are reviewing designs and finalizing development plans for several new or updated Allen parks. Chairperson Tricia Losavio offered a preview of upcoming projects during the July 28 council meeting. In 2015-2016, the board will review the Windridge Neighborhood Park design plan, finalize the development plan for Molsen Farm and begin construction on Watters Branch Community Park. The board will also participate in the Public Art master plan update and make recommendations for the Parks and Open Space master plan.

The Parks and Recreation Board helped guide several parks projects in 2014-2015. It reviewed and approved development plans for the new Hillside Play area, created a hot air balloon landing policy and permit, recommended new fees for The Courses at Watters Creek and approved a trail marker program in conjunction with the Allen Parks Foundation. It also assisted with numerous special events, including Summer Sounds, Allen’s Christmas tree lighting and Allen USA.

The Parks and Recreation Board advises the City Council and Parks and Recreation Director on matters related to Parks and Recreation programs. The board meets at 7 p.m. on the second Monday in February, May, August and November. Meetings are held in the Community Meeting Room at the Municipal Court/Parks and Recreation Administration Building (301 Century Parkway).
