The City of Allen received an unmodified, or “clean,” audit for fiscal year 2013/2014, marking its eighth straight year of clean audits. Annual audits are required by both the Allen city charter and state law. Auditors at the accounting firm Weaver handled the 2013/2014 report.
The report notes an increase in property tax revenue and increased spending on both public safety and general government. Water revenues dropped in 2013/2014 due to watering restrictions.
The City of Allen will submit its Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR) to the Government Finance Officers Association as a candidate for a Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting. Allen has received the certificate for 16 consecutive years.
