Recently, the Allen City Council awarded a bid from Bowman Construction Company for the ongoing maintenance program to repair and replace aging sidewalks, alleys, and streets. With a project cost of approximately $1.2 million, just under half of the expense will be cash funded through the Solid Waste Fund and savings from other construction projects with the remainder of funding coming from the sale of general obligation bonds.
Included in this city-wide project are approximately 4,579 square yards of alley pavement reconstruction; 5,823 square yards of roadway pavement repair; installation of 18 barrier free ramps (BFR); 158 linear feet of curb and gutter repair; and incidental items associated with the project. Also considered in this project will be accessibility improvements to the City Hall parking lot.
