    3. NOTICE FOR WAITLIST APPLICANTS

      Joining the Waitlist does not guarantee your child a spot in Junior Fire Academy.
      If a spot opens up, you will be notified on or before June 9, 2023.

    4. Allen Fire Department’s Junior Fire Academy teaches 5th and 6th grade students what it takes to be an Allen firefighter. Our mission is to instill camaraderie, servant leadership, teamwork, self-confidence, pride and respect for others. Students will learn:

      • Emergency medical care/first aid

      • Rope knotting

      • How to use a real fire hose

      • Proper use of a fire extinguisher

      • How to find their way through a maze wearing tinted smoke lenses

      • And much, much more!


      CLASS SCHEDULE
      The academy is a week-long commitment. Classes take place Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Students are not permitted to come in late or leave early due to other camp activities or registrations.

      WHAT TO BRING
      Students should bring their own snacks, lunch and beverages. Water will be available; breaks are taken throughout the day. Each student should also bring a small towel, sunscreen and insect repellent.

      PARTICIPATION REQUIREMENTS
      Students must reside in Allen and must be in 5th or 6th grade. Students will be selected in order that all paperwork is received. Class sizes are limited per session. The Junior Fire Academy is a hands-on, physically-active program. Please give instructors advance notice of a student's limitations.

      Junior Fire Academy is a free program offered by Allen Fire Department.
