Education and outreach initiatives are key to the objectives of Keep Allen Beautiful (KAB). KAB produces and annual Education and Outreach Guide to highlight programs, presentations and field trips offered by the City of Allen and local partners.
Recycled Art Contest
This year Keep Allen Beautiful is sponsoring a virtual contest open to students in K-12 enrolled in the Allen ISD, and home schooled students and students in the Plano ISD and Lovejoy ISD who reside in the Allen City Limits. The artwork is due no later than October 23, 2020 by 5:00 pm. The theme is, "My Clean & Green Community!"
This contest challenges 4th and 5th grade students to design and create informational posters according to the theme and utilizing the Presentation, Activities Guide, and the Rubric/Judging Criteria. Due date is February 5, 2021 at 5:00 p.m. when a photograph of the informational poster students create must be emailed to ContestKAB@gmail.com. All posters will be published in a Gallery with the link located on the top left of this page on or before February 10, 2021. Winners will be recognized during a virtual awards ceremony in February. Top 3 finalists will be contacted to participate in the awards ceremony. The Grand Prize Winner will have a tree planted in their honor at their school or at a City park. Top 3 winners will receive certificates and gift cards in the mail. Other participants will receive certificates through email.
Allen ISD schools (K-12) compete to collect and donate the most new or gently-used shoes. The school collecting the most pairs per student wins the grand prize. This event normally takes place in the spring, right before the Great American Cleanup Event.
Scouts interested in developing projects for their Eagle Project or Order of the Arrow service work may reference the Guidelines for Advanced Scout Projects.
