Allen City Council
Allen City Council consists of the mayor and six council members elected citywide to serve three-year, staggered terms of office. In addition to strategic planning and approving the annual budget, the council sets policy, enacts ordinances establishing municipal law and regulates zoning and development. The council also appoints board and commission members.
City Council meetings are held on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month at
7 p.m. in the Council Chambers of City Hall, 305 Century Parkway. Prior to the Council meeting, a workshop is conducted at 6 p.m. in the Council Conference Room, located next to Council Chambers.
City Council meetings and workshops are open to the public and citizen input is welcome. Citizens may speak at council meetings on agenda and non-agenda items by completing and submitting a public meeting appearance card. View the above tab, labeled Addressing Council, for more information.
Council Agenda and Minutes
The City Council agenda is available on the website 72 hours prior to every meeting. The agendas are posted outside of City Hall in the glass public notice case adjacent to the main City Hall entrance.
Once approved, meeting minutes are archived and available for review through the online portal.
Previous Council meeting agenda packets can be accessed through MuniAgenda.

Anyone wishing to address the City Council is asked to complete a Public Meeting Appearance Card. The link is available for registering to speak once the agenda is posted on the City's website on Friday before the Tuesday meeting. Residents may use the form until 5 p.m. on the meeting day; after that, residents may register to speak at the meeting using a paper public meeting appearance card.
Paper forms should be submitted to the city secretary prior to the start of the meeting. Groups that want to address the same issue are encouraged to select a spokesperson.
The mayor will ask those wishing to address the Council to do so at the appropriate time. Please approach the speaker’s podium in the center of the Council Chambers, state your name and address for the official meeting record, and discuss the specific agenda item or topic of interest.
Please direct your comments to the mayor. Although the City Council cannot take specific action during citizens’ comments for items not on the regular agenda due to legal requirements, the City Council may:

Incorporated in 1953, the City of Allen is a home rule city that is governed by the laws of the State of Texas and within the framework of the City Charter, which was approved by voters on January 29, 1979. The city operates under a council-manager form of government, which combines representative democracy through elected officials with a city manager who is professionally trained and educated to manage the day-to-day operations of the city.
