Social Media Policy

The City of Allen maintains social media sites/pages to provide information and promote City of Allen programs, services, events, policies, and objectives. It is the City’s goal to keep the most current and accurate information available to the public on these sites, however, varying events can occur that could affect the timeliness of the information and the accuracy of the content. The City's website,, remains the official source for news, information, and service alerts.

Official City of Allen social media sites are not public forums and comments posted on these sites by “friends,” “fans”, or “followers”, will be monitored. The City reserves the right to remove inappropriate comments including those that have obscene language, sexual content, threaten or defame any employee, person or organization, violate the legal ownership interest of another party, promote commercial services or products or are not related to the topic being discussed. All content of these sites and all comments submitted to this page and its list of “fans’ are public and subject to disclosure pursuant to the Texas Public Information Act. 

These sites/pages may contain links to other Internet sites and resources as a convenience to the viewer. Linked sites/pages are not under the control of, nor maintained by, the City of Allen and the City is not responsible for the content of these sites.
