Citizens Fire Academy

The Citizens Fire Academy is an eight-week (10-class) program that gives residents an opportunity to learn more about how the Allen Fire Department operates and is organized. The Academy takes place each spring. 

Participants experience:
  • Demonstrations of emergency operations
  • Fire and life safety training
  • Riding along with on-duty firefighters on emergency calls
Completion of the Citizens Fire Academy provides an in-depth understanding of the department, but is not to be confused with a fire service training academy for future career firefighters.

Upcoming Classes

Applications for the 2020 Citizens Fire Academy are available through February 28. Classes begin March 19 and meet at 7 p.m. every Thursday, including two optional Saturdays* and two mandatory Thursdays. See below for a full list of class dates.

Classes take place at the Municipal Court Parks and Recreation Building, 301 Century Parkway.

Participants must be at least 18 years old and either live or work in the city of Allen. Download an application.
