The Citizens Fire Academy is an eight-week (10-class) program that gives residents an opportunity to learn more about how the Allen Fire Department operates and is organized. The Academy takes place each spring.
Demonstrations of emergency operations
Fire and life safety training
Riding along with on-duty firefighters on emergency calls
Completion of the Citizens Fire Academy provides an in-depth understanding of the department, but is not to be confused with a fire service training academy for future career firefighters.
Applications for the 2020 Citizens Fire Academy are available through February 28. Classes begin March 19 and meet at 7 p.m. every Thursday, including two optional Saturdays* and two mandatory Thursdays. See below for a full list of class dates.
