Chief Harvey's Message
Our high standards are evident from the beginning of the hiring process. The outstanding recruits selected to join our force receive training which exceeds state requirements, including a special emphasis in mental health response. Officers are issued high quality equipment, and body-worn cameras provide accountability.
Growing cities such as Allen require a full range of law enforcement capabilities to provide outstanding service to our citizens. The Allen Police Department is equipped to handle a range of investigations, from retail theft rings to sophisticated data breaches to undercover drug stings. As criminals become more tech-savvy, officers are striving to outpace their efforts with ID theft software and “dark web” training to help solve even the most complex crimes.
We enjoy enthusiastic community support, nurtured through outreach efforts such as our Neighborhood Watch program, burglary prevention and check fraud training, self-defense courses, National Night Out and the 12-week Citizens Police Academy. These programs enhance the public’s trust and increase our transparency, while encouraging meaningful conversations with members of our growing and diverse community.
Whether you’re raising a family, starting a business, planning a visit or buying a home, we are committed to making Allen a safe, secure and enjoyable community. To receive the latest updates from Allen Police, enroll in Citizen Observer and follow us on Facebook and Twitter.
