About Criminal Investigations
The Criminal Investigations Division includes Crimes Against Persons and Property, Narcotics Unit, Crime Analysis Unit, Criminalist Unit, and a Crime Victim Advocate.
Child Abuse
In addition, the division participates in the Child Abuse Task Force by funding a child abuse investigator that works out of the Collin County Children’s Advocacy Center in Plano. Suspected child abuse should be reported to the
Texas Department of Family and Protective Services at 1.800.252.5400. This toll free hotline is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. If you feel a situation is a life-threatening emergency, please call 911. The Texas DFPS works with local agencies to investigate reports of alleged abuse.
General Investigations Unit
The General Investigations Unit is charged with investigating all unsolved offenses that occur in the city limits of Allen. Additionally, investigators assigned to this unit are responsible for preparing and filing criminal cases with the Collin County District Attorney or other prosecuting agencies.
Crime Victim Advocate
The Crime Victim Advocate works with victims of crime to assist them in restoring their physical, mental, and emotional health. To accomplish this, the Crime Victim Advocate can assist with Crime Victim's Compensation paperwork, attend court with victims, make referral for crisis counseling and other social services. The Crime Victim Advocate also works closely with investigators to help the victim through the criminal justice system.
What We Investigate
This unit may investigate offenses that range from criminal mischief, auto theft, and burglary to aggravated assault and homicide. These investigators also work closely with other agencies in an effort to solve cases. For statistical information on the various types of investigations, check the
