Television Recycling & Disposal Options
After the switch from analog to digital television technology, many people purchased new televisions rather than using digital converters. The question of disposal of the old television is a dilemma - to recycle or not to recycle? Due to the cost associated with recycling televisions, the City of Allen opted to allow residents to choose whether to recycle or landfill their televisions.

Recycle Option
There are many recycling options available in the DFW area. Most of these incur a cost. Click here for a list of TCEQ approved vendors.

Landfill Option 1
Allen residents may choose to have the television collected during the once monthly residential bulky item collection. These collected items will be landfilled. Please call CWD at 972.392.9300, Option 2, to schedule a television (bulky) collection.

Landfill Option 2
A second landfill option is do-it-yourself disposal at a North Texas Municipal Water District (NTMWD) disposal facility, i.e. the Custer Road Transfer Station located at 9901 Custer Road. This location is 1.8 miles north of W. McDermott on Custer. The Transfer Station is open Monday through Saturday from 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Residents must take a current Allen water utility bill and driver's license (addresses must match) to drop off televisions at no charge.

For more information on donating or recycling old electronics, visit the EPA's website.
