Computer and Electronics Recycling Program
Computer equipment will be collected from Allen residents at our computer and electronics collections; Great American Cleanup (GAC) held in late April/early May and Allen Recycles Day (ARD) held in early November. Computer and Television Recycling
By state law, computer manufacturers who sell their products in Texas are required to take-back and recycle their equipment at no cost to individuals. This program does not apply to cell phones and other hand-held electronics, although many manufacturers have decided to include these items in their recycling plan. Some manufacturers also include incentives for purchasing new products when you bring your old device to recycle. Check with the manufacturer for more details.

Retailers located in or near Allen also provide electronic recycling opportunities. For more information visit the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) website. This site includes links to all computer manufacturers' recycling websites. For additional information about donating or recycling an old computer or other electronics, visit the EPA's website

The TCEQ has also created new resources for consumers to find local retail outlets that will take unwanted computers and televisions. Please visit: and/or

Additionally, for a closer look at how the electronics and televisions are recycled, click here to watch an educational video detailing the process.
