Planning Regulations & Maps
Guiding Principles
The guiding principles for the City of Allen’s development are derived from the Comprehensive Plan and the Allen Land Development Code.
Comprehensive Plan
The Comprehensive Plan defines the goals and policy statements on land use, transportation, housing, parks, community facilities, urban design, economic development, the environment, health and human services, and government services. This plan gathers all of these goals together to create a cohesive community. An overview of the Comprehensive Plan is available
here. If you would like to receive a copy of the entire comprehensive plan, or have any questions please contact the Planning and Zoning Division.
Land Development Code
The
Allen Land Development Code works with the Comprehensive Plan to promote the health, safety, and general welfare of the community. It is designed to lessen street congestion, secure safety from fire, panic, and other dangers, provide adequate light and air, prevent land overcrowding, avoid undue concentration of population, and facilitate adequate provisions for transportation, water, sewage, schools, parks, and other public resources. The
Allen Land Development Code also promotes the character of the city by encouraging the most appropriate use of the land.
