Water Conservation & Drought Contingency Plan

Water Conservation & Drought Contingency & Water Emergency Response Plan
Recognizing the need for efficient use of existing water supplies, the Texas Commission of Environmental Quality (TCEQ) has developed guidelines and requirements governing the development of water conservation and drought contingency plans for public water suppliers.

The City Plan
The City of Allen’s current Water Conservation and Drought Contingency and Water Emergency Response Plan for the City of Allen, Texas (City Plan) follows recommendations from the North Texas Municipal Water District (NTMWD) and meets the guidelines and requirements of TCEQ.

The City Plan was adopted through Ordinance Number 2760-8-08 on August 12, 2008 and an amendment was adopted through Ordinance Number 3234-6-14 on June 24, 2014. The City Plan’s strategies include restricted and modified outdoor watering practices, as well as a rebate program. This guide will provide information on the City Plan and restrictions in regard to water usage.

A new plan was approved by City Council on April 22, 2014, but will not be implemented until a later date.  The new plan is entitled, "Water Conservation & Water Resource Management Plan for the City of Allen, Texas."  Until this new plan is implemented, we will continue to follow the 2008 City Plan. Public meetings were held on March 17 and March 22, 2014. These meetings included a PowerPoint presentation and the opportunity to ask questions. For more information call 214.509.4559.
