Initiating / Cancelling Service
About
Customers need to contact utility billing to start, transfer or cancel utility services with the City of Allen. To initiate service, a customer will have to complete a utility billing service application and put down a $50 deposit. To disconnect service, you will need to contact utility billing directly at 214.509.4560. Trash and recycling services are also connected to water/sewer services and will begin when you open an account for water services.
Request Service
Residents can request utility service by contacting Utility Billing and completing a
Service Request Form.
The City uses social security numbers, driver’s licenses and credit reporting agencies to verify customer identities when accounts are opened. The City does report customer debt to the major credit reporting agencies if accounts are closed and final balances due are not paid in full. This can impact an individual credit rating for up to seven years.
Transfer of Service
To transfer utility service, provide details regarding a forwarding address and date of transfer or termination by using the following online form.
You must ensure the trash and recycling carts are in a secure location prior to moving. The best location is to store them in the garage. These are specific to the address and must remain at the residence. If they are missing, you will be charged $76.05 + tax per missing cart.
