About Citizens on Patrol
Alumni of the Citizens Police Academy opting to participate in this volunteer program are required to complete additional training in areas such as: 

• proper radio procedures
• proper and safe operation of a marked department vehicle
• gaining a working knowledge of directions and locations within the city
• learning how to be an alert and effective observer and how to accurately report what is observed
• Citizens on Patrol volunteers log over 6,000 miles each year, keeping Allen a safe and prosperous place to live.

What Citizens on Patrol Provide
COPs are volunteers who patrol areas of the city during peak times of criminal activity. COPs provide an extra set of eyes for the police department. COPs have reported several “in-progress” calls. COPs receive additional training after graduating the Citizens Police Academy.
