The Allen Senior Recreation Center is a recreation center for persons 50 years of age and older, including their spouses. The center is operated by the Allen Parks and Recreation Department. Offering a variety of programs, trips and special events, activities and classes are low-cost or absolutely free. Membership to the center is just $5 a year for residents and $24 a year for non-residents.
The Allen Senior Recreation Center, 451 St. Mary Drive, will host a Veteran's Day program to recognize all local veterans, active military and reservists on Monday, November 9. The program is open to the public and begins at 8:30 a.m. with coffee and donuts followed by a ceremonial program at 9:30 a.m.
The program will feature a Color Guard Flag Presentation by Korean War Veterans Association of Richardson, patriotic music by Marion Elementary Sixth Grade Choir, and guest speaker Gary Schutza, Korean veteran.The program is sponsored by Conservatory Senior Living. Congratulations to JoAnn Ratcliff, Ms. Senior Allen 2009! JoAnn was crowned Saturday, October 3 at the second annual Ms. Senior Allen Pageant. She was chosen from a group of nine lovely ladies who all brought their own unique style and elegance to the program. JoAnn will serve as the City of Allen's Ambassador at several events. We are all very proud to have her represent Allen and the Senior Center. She is a true representation of sophistication.
The facility houses a state of the art fitness room, craft room, game room, classrooms and a 6,000 square foot multi-purpose room with hardwood floors. Our rooms are used for dancing, yoga, tai chi, ceramics, painting, scrap booking and much more.

If you like to play cards, dominoes, line dance, socialize or just eat lunch with friends, then the Allen Senior Recreation Center is for you. The center also sponsors trips and hosts workshops on financial and medical topics. All activities that include lunch and transportation require a reservation by either signing-up at the center or by calling 214.509.4820.

All trips require advance registration. Participants may sign up in person or over the phone. Trips must be paid for at the time of registration unless otherwise noted. All trips are subject to change due to circumstances beyond our control. If the Senior Center must cancel the trip due to circumstances beyond our control, a full refund will be given. No refunds will be issued unless the trip is cancelled by Senior Center staff. Please remember that our trips fill up quickly so please sign up early. Activity dates and times are subject to be changed or canceled. Please be sure to call the Allen Senior Recreation Center at 214.509.4820 for current information or to receive a free monthly newsletter.
Transportation is available to and from the center so that members may participate in daily activities. Participants must be able to get in and out of the bus/van without assistance from the driver and be an Allen resident. Membership papers must be completed before service can be scheduled. Transportation for evening programs is also offered for a $2 round trip charge. For more information on this service, please contact staff at 214.509.4820.
We welcome you to join us for lunch. We serve freshly prepared meals every day for members between noon and 12:45 p.m. for the cost of $3 per meal. Pre-registration is required no later than 9:30 a.m. on the same day. A calendar of menu items is published and posted each month. All menu items are subject to change due to availability. You may register either in person or by phone and you may register up to one day prior.

A nurse from the Geriatric Wellness Center comes every other month to check blood pressure, blood sugar and answer questions. This is a free service. The center also schedules speakers throughout the year on various health-related topics.
