Learn To Swim

The City of Allen Learn to Swim program helps swimmers of all ages improve their comfort in the water and learn correct stroke techniques – all in a safe way! Instructors are Red Cross certified and teach according to those standards. We also have trained aides that may assist in classes. Please check our schedule of classes as our classes change from season to season. We offer classes for all ages and skill levels.

Water Babies and Water Babies Advanced are for parents and their infants ages 6 months to 3 years.

Classes for ages 3-12 are divided into two groups by age ranges: SHARKS (ages 6-12) and MINNOWS (ages 3-5). Each child will be evaluated by several instructors on the first day of class and grouped with other children similar in skill and stroke quality. All lessons are 30 minutes long with an instructor:student ratio of 5:1.

Please note: June-August evening SHARKS and MINNOWS classes are only at the Ford Park Outdoor Pool. Morning classes are at the Don Rodenbaugh Natatorium.

Adult classes are offered for ages 13 years+. We have beginner classes for those that are new to aquatic environments, and we also have advanced classes for those that want help on their stroke mechanics and technique.
