TEXAS READING CLUB 2009Libraries: Deep in the Heart of Texas!

We have a variety of programs and activities offered throughout the summer. We encourage you to use the website to reference these activities or print the activity calendar to keep as a reference. Please remember that parents are responsible for their children's behavior while in the library. ***Parents or a parent-designated caregiver, age sixteen (16) or older, shall accompany children under age nine (9) in the library. June 8 through July 25 | August 1 (last day to return reading log for prizes)
For Ages 2 through those entering 5th grade in Fall 2009
Come into the library to select either a title log or time log. *Submit only 1 log of either type only once for the summer.
Goal for Prizes:
Title log - read or listen to 25 books
Time log - read or listen for 15 minutes a day for 25 days
Prizes awarded upon completion of goals:
Texas Reading Club certificate & free book of your choice
(Prize quantities are limited)
We offer two story time sessions during the summer, All By Myself and Family Story Time. These are free and do not require registration. Story times are 30 minute sessions offered in the Children’s Program Room. Check our Story Time page for details.

2 p.m. every Tuesday | June 16-July 21 | Children's Program Room
For children entering grades 1 and 2 in Fall '09 | 45 minute sessions
Free | No registration
A one on one reading time with a teen volunteer and a child sharing books and playing language related games.
July 15 | Puppet shows at 10:30 and 11:30
July 16 | Puppet shows at 10:30, 11:30, and 7 p.m.
Children's Program Room
Free tickets available 30 minutes prior to show time. Seating limited to 125 each show.
We have a variety of children’s performers scheduled throughout the summer. Performances are offered free with no advance registration required in the Civic Auditorium. Seating is limited to 300 and free tickets are given out 30 minutes prior to show time. All shows will be performed twice. View the Children’s Performers page for details.

Come learn and celebrate all things Texas. Listen to poetry, make crafts, play games, and sing songs all about the Lone Star State.
